“Herculean, that’s how I feel today”. That’s the key message we give to our fans. Everyone who has ever participated in our events or has been in touch with our organisation knows exactly what that feels like: balanced, proud, courageous and connected with the world.
This is how we started energising people and brands:
More than a decade ago, Yves Vekemans – a multisporting mathematician – started a crazy project with a few friends: the Hercules Trophy team challenge. It became a hit in Belgium, land of the festivals. Thousands of people from hundreds of companies participated and kept coming back.
Inge Van Belle – a multilanguage speaking lawyer – joined him along the way. They got married on a tropical beach and they now raise 3 adorable children.
In 2009 – that’s like in the biggest recession ever – they decided to leave the corporate rat race, and became hard working entrepreneurs.
They started crafting a great team with amazing people, with the aim to professionalise, test and grow the Hercules Trophy in different countries. In 2012 they the first investors came on board to start a holding company. Herculean cvba was born and Hercules Trophy events were organized in Madrid, Dubai, Munich, Johannesburg, New York, Lithuania, Warsaw, The Netherlands and Abu Dhabi.
The Herculean lifestyle became reality and the vision was refined. Based on a Mantra and Herculean Values, they want to unite and energise people all over the world.
But it didn’t stop there. Customers started to ask for specific wellbeing programs on the workfloor based upon the Herculean feeling they got at events. Hercules Academy was born. A methodology was to help people lead a more balanced lifestyle, focusing on body, mind, nutrition and social skills. The coaches even developed Herculean personality types.
Hercules Projects was created shortly afterwards to customise the knowhow on sportainment and gamification for bespoke active projects. Company Days, Family Days, Team Days with an active touch were organized for large and small companies.
From Hercules Projects, new formats are being created. What started as a project for a female magazine Flair soon became the Ladies Games and then turned into the Pink Ladies Games, for active women who care. In just 2 years time +1,000 teams participated in this amazing format which is now planning to go global.
The Herculix Foundation is the not-for-profit that wants to inspire the community to start social change through sports. The foundation is now being integrated in as many of our events as possible, with The Pink Ladies Games as one of the most important.
The idea wasn’t just to run an ordinary company, but to touch as many people with the positive Herculean vibe. In 2017, the first equity crowdfunding project was started as a means to loyalise the fans. The campaign – powered by MyMicroInvest (now Spreds) – was so successful that they were awarded “Best Crowdfunding Campaign in 2017” by a professional jury.
What’s next? Herculean has developed a white labelled engagement platform to help organisations and providers manage and measure employee engagement in one environment.
